Patient Care provided at The Shepherd’s House

The Hospice operates an outpatient and community based care service that provides treatment for pain and other distressing symptoms in life-threatening illnesses such as cancer, HIV and AIDS and TB. A multidisciplinary team of medical doctors, Community Health Officers, nurses, social workers, community volunteers and family members provides the treatment or care.

The Shepherd’s Hospice provides palliative care services to all, regardless of race, creed, or ability to pay. However, patients and family members who can afford to contribute to the cost recovery scheme for drugs are encouraged to do so through service costs, donations and gifts.
TSHSL services include:

  • Home-based care
  • Inpatient care (24-hour symptom control)
  • Outpatients clinics (twice a week)
  • Education and training
  • Orphans and Vulnerable Children’s program
  • Women’s Wellness Project (WWP)
  • Advocacy and Education
